New era begins at WMU: Fleck introduced as newest Bronco football coach

Written by Bill Broderick

There’s an expression around the Western Michigan University campus that goes, It’s a great day to be a Bronco.

Well, on Tuesday, it was a pretty good day to be P.J. Fleck also.

Fleck was introduced as the 15th head coach of the Western Michigan University football team, after his trip to Kalamazoo was delayed slightly because his wife was having a baby Monday night.

With his wife and new baby at home in Florida, Fleck made it to Kalamazoo on Tuesday and met the media with an enthusiasm that made it pretty obvious he was having a good couple of days.

“It’s great to be back in the MAC,” Fleck excitedly said from his podium at the Seelye Center on the campus of WMU Tuesday afternoon. “I am truly honored and humbled to be the 15th head coach of the Western Michigan University football program. My staff and I will make it our mission to bring excitement, energy and a winning tradition back to the Broncos.”
