GEORGETOWN TOWNSHIP, Mich.—A new business is moving into two empty storefronts in Jenison and Kalamazoo.

Garden Ridge is in the process of remodeling the former Target store located at 334 Chicago Drive in Jenison. The store has remained empty since October 2012 when Target decided to move to a larger location off 44th Street and Ivanrest Avenue in Grandville.

Garden Ridge store manager Christopher Scholle says workers have ripped out the old tile, carpeting, café and pharmacy to make way for the store’s extensive inventory, which includes everything from pots to hand-painted artwork.  Scholle says crews are about 75 to 80 percent finished with repainting the space.  He expects to hold a soft opening in mid-January 2014.
