Keeping Sidewalks Clear and Safe This Winter

Kalamazoo Public Safety would like to remind all property owners to keep sidewalks adjacent to homes and businesses clear of snow and ice.  Many people walk to work, walk to use public transportation, or otherwise use sidewalks in the City of Kalamazoo.  Snow covered sidewalks make pedestrian traffic difficult, and sometimes dangerous.

City ordinance requires that snow and ice be cleared from City sidewalks and piled on private property, not shoveled onto streets, lanes or other public places. This also applies to commercially owned properties.
