PORTAGE, Mich. (WZZM) - A Portage Northern student is in custody after threatening a police officer with a knife on school grounds.

The Portage Northern School Liason Officer was called just after noon Monday to assist school administrators with a 17-year-old student who was displaying strange and threatening behavior.  When the officer arrived, the student pulled a knife on the officer and threatened him.  The officer responded by using his Taser and subduing the student.

The student is in custody and will be charged with Felonius Assault on a Police Officer.

No one was injured.  The liason officer is being credited with resolving a potentially dangerous situation.
