KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WZZM) -- Two men are behind bars after robbing and sexually assaulting a 22-year-old woman in Oshtemo Township.

Kalamazoo County deputies were called to the Canterbury House Apartments on Sunday around 4 a.m.

After arriving, they learned the victim let Jamaal Gevon Conger, 20, into her home. They knew each other through mutual friends. Once inside, the woman went into her bedroom and closed the door. A short time later, the door was opened and Conger and Tyrell Lamar Sheppard, 22, walked inside.

The victim told authorities she was forced at gunpoint by the men to stay in her room while her belongings were stolen from the apartment. After the theft, she was forced by Sheppard to her vehicle, driven from the area and sexually assaulted.

Conger, from Kalamazoo, was found and arrested the next day. During his arrest, he fled from police in his vehicle. After an approximate three-mile pursuit, Conger was stopped and arrested by deputies.

Sheppard, also from Kalamazoo, was found and arrested on Wednesday by the Portage Police Department. He was arrested after a traffic stop. During the stop, police found cocaine and a handgun in the vehicle.

Criminal charges have been issued by the Kalamazoo County Prosecutors Office against both Conger and Sheppard.

Conger is currently lodged with charges of armed robbery, home invasion, two counts of felony firearm and fleeing and eluding. His bond is set at $250,000.

Sheppard is lodged with charges of armed robbery, kidnapping, home invasion, assault with intent, four counts of felony firearm and possession of a controlled substance. Sheppard currently has his bond denied.
