17th Annual Classic Synchronized Skating Competition

More than 2000 skaters, making up 133 teams are coming to Kalamazoo this weekend performing exciting figure skating!

The Wings Event Center located at 3600 Vanrick Drive in Kalamazoo, Michigan comes alive with synchronized skating programs performed by 8-20 skaters together at a time.

Practice takes place in the later afternoon on Friday, November 18. Saturday’s competition, November 19 begins at 8:00am through 8:20pm and Sunday’s, November 20, starts off at 8:30am through almost 2:00pm.

Cost is $10, $9 for Senior’s (62 & over), no charge for children 5 & under and active military with proper ID.

MudFest

Kalamazoo Nature Center located at 7000 N. Westnedge Avenue invites the community to Get Dirty this Sunday.

Community guests have the opportunity to experience mud fun at Natures playground. The family can jump into a giant mud pit, race down the giant slip n slide, along with visiting fun learning stations during this down & dirty event. For an additional fee, the Zip Line is a real treat. (Rider’s must be 4th grade & up)

There is Free Admission to the Mudfest with a general KNC admission on Sunday, August 28 from 12pm – 5pm. Guest passes are not valid for this special event.

The Grand Haven Aviation Association invite the community to a family favorite this Saturday!

The community can experience a tantalizing breakfast of pancakes, eggs, sausage & juice/coffee or a hotdog, chips & pop lunch, along with flight demonstrations, music, children’s activities and more. Airplane, Biplane or helicopter rides will be available.

Admission is free, rain or shine to drive in or fly in for this great time at the Grand Haven Memorial Airpark located at 16446 Comstock Street on Saturday, August 13 from 7:00am – 1:00pm.

The Grand Haven, Spring Lake & Ferrysburg Chamber of Commerce invite residents & visitors to take part in this sand art building activity this Saturday.

After 2 hours of sand creating, individuals, teams & families will be judged and awarded prizes on their unique presentation.

Rainbow Child Care Center Celebrates Summer with Mobile Science Lab

Rainbow Child Care Center (Rainbow), a provider of academic-focused, early-childhood education with more than 120 centers across 12 states, recently celebrated its annual Summer Social with local families and special guest, Clarity Newhouse, professional race car driver.

Families that attended the event at Rainbow’s center in Walker, enjoyed interacting with Newhouse and getting an up-close look at her race car.  Doubling as a Mobile Science Lab, Newhouse’s race car provided young students an opportunity to explore science, technology, engineering and math during a fun, hands-on science lesson.

For the 16th year, the Irish American Club of Kalamazoo invites the community to an Irish music extravaganza.

The Old Dog Tavern located at 402 E. Kalamazoo Avenue comes alive inside and outside with a variety of Irish Music bands on Friday, June 17 from 5:00pm – 1:00am & Saturday, June 18 from noon until 1:00am.

Admission: $10.00 – adults, children 13 & under with an adult are free and welcome until 9:00pm. All students with ID are $5.00.
