Traditional Bowhunters Expo comes to Kalamazoo Jan. 24-26

KALAMAZOO, Mich.—Embrace your inner Katniss this weekend when the Traditional Bowhunters Expo comes to Kalamazoo.

This is the 19th year for the expo, which features nearly 100 of the nation’s top traditional bow hunting bowyers, dealers and crafters.  The expo runs Jan. 24-26 at the Kalamazoo County Fairgrounds.

“If you’re a hardcore traditional archery person, you wouldn’t want to miss it,” says show organizer Sharon Brumm. “There’s traditional archery equipment, wood arrows, many custom-built bows and self bows, which is a bow made from one piece of wood. There are leather goods, wool hunting clothing, broadhead displays, and so much more.”

Guest speakers Sterling and Krista Holbrook and Joel Turner will cover a range of topics, from hunting feral hogs in the Deep South to curing target panic for good.  There will also be workshops and a new bow test area.  For children, there is a supervised shooting area with bows and arrows supplied.

Admission is $10 per person; children ages 12 and under are free.

Expo hours are:

  • Friday, Jan. 24, 5 p.m. – 9 p.m.
  • Saturday, Jan. 26, 9 a.m. – 6 p.m.
  • Sunday, Jan. 27, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
