Forum on Michigan's roads November 6

KALAMAZOO, Mich.—How are Michigan’s road projects funded?

Representative Margaret O’Brien and Senator Tonya Schuitmaker plan to answer that question during a transportation forum Wednesday, November 6.

“Road funding has been a major focus for the last two years, and I’ve heard from numerous constituents about their concerns,” said O’Brien, R-Portage. “It is no secret that many of Michigan’s roads are in bad shape, and as winter approaches we are likely to see them get worse.”

“This event will provide the public with more information about how our roads are funded and give people an opportunity to discuss options going forward,” said Schuitmaker, R-Lawton.

The presentation will also include an examination of the condition of Kalamazoo County roads and future investments.   Representative Joseph Haveman and officials from the Kalamazoo County Road Commission, Michigan Department of Transportation and the cities of Portage and Kalamazoo all plan to speak at the forum.  To submit a question early, call O’Brien’s office at 877-DIST-061.

The event begins at 6 p.m. at the Groves Center at Kalamazoo Valley Community College, located at 7107 Elm Valley Dr. in Kalamazoo.  Snacks will be provided.
