My Town: Community to debate waste collection changes in Portage Feb. 18
align="CENTER">-----NEWS RELEASE--- align="LEFT"> The Portage City Council is considering a change to the city collection programs, including the Fall Leaf Collection, Spring Cleanup and Quarterly Curbside Brush Collection programs, to allow for collection of these items along private roads by the City of Portage. Currently, these programs are not available to those residential properties located adjacent to private roads.

On Wednesday, February 18, two public sessions will be conducted at Portage City Hall (7900 South Westnedge Avenue) to receive public input regarding potential program changes. The first session will be held at 4 p.m., with the second scheduled for 6 p.m. Portage residents, and particularly property owners along private roads, are invited to attend one or both of these public sessions to hear a description of the current collection programs, along with how the programs may be changed. The discussion will involve indemnification and insurance issues and potential solutions, along with physical challenges that must be considered in order to perform these services on private roads.

Please call the Office of the City Manager at (269) 329-4405 with any questions about the public session.
