Drug raid leads to firearms and drug seizures

Officers from the Kalamazoo Valley Enforcement Team, acting on complaints of drug dealing and illegal gambling in the 800 block of Ampersee, opened up an investigation into the claims. During the investigation Officers identified a residence in the 800 block of Ampersee. On January 4, 2012 Officers from the Kalamazoo Valley Enforcement Team and Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety’s Swat Team, executed a search warrant at the residence. During the raid, 13 subjects were found inside the residence participating in illegal gambling. A quantity of pre-packaged marijuana, crack cocaine, electronic scales, packaging equipment, gambling equipment, and illegal proceeds were seized.

Kalamazoo mother arrested for providing alcohol to minor

A Kalamazoo mother is charged with providing alcohol to a 14-year-old girl.

Portage Public Safety officers were called to a home in the 2200 block of Corstange Road around midnight. That is where they found a 14-year-old girl who was drunk and unresponsive. The girl was taken to Bronson Hospital, where tests showed she had a blood alcohol level more than four times the legal limit.

Investigators determined the girl got the alcohol from a friend's mother. Now that 47-year-old woman is charged with Furnishing Alcohol to a Minor.

Police say the girl will make a full recovery.

Three juveniles arrested for purse theft

From the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety - On December 28, 2011, at approximately 2350 hrs, an employee at Cosmo’s Cucina, located at 804 W. Vine Street called public safety to report that her purse had been stolen.  She said that three juveniles entered the restaurant near closing time.  One of them distracted her while another took the purse.  She did not notice the purse was missing until ten to fifteen minutes after they had left.
