Kalamazoo Public Safety News Release

Kalamazoo, MI:  This morning the Kalamazoo County Prosecutor’s Office issued charges against Robert Wright, 26 year old Kalamazoo resident, for the murder of Romney Hunter and the assault with intent to murder Troy Whitfield, in the 800 block of N. Rose on January 8, 2012.  The following charges were issued: Open Murder; three counts of Felony Firearm; Assault with Intent to Murder; Felon in Possession of Firearm.  Mr. Wright is currently being held in another facility on unrelated charges.  He will be arraigned once arrangements have been made to transfer him back to Kalamazoo County.

Three others have already been charged for their involvement in this homicide.  They have been identified as Steven Anderson, a 26-year-old Kalamazoo resident and Jaquan Henderson, a 36-year old Kalamazoo resident were both charged with the Open Murder, Assault with Intent to Murder, three counts of Felony Firearm,  and Felon in Possession of a Firearm. They are being held without bond.  Santrell Sandifer, a19-year-old Kalamazoo resident, was charged with two counts of Accessory After the Fact to a Felony.  All three remain in custody, Mr. Anderson and Mr. Sandifer have been bound over and are awaiting trial and Mr. Henderson’s preliminary exam is scheduled for next week.
