Officers from the Kalamazoo Valley Enforcement Team, acting on complaints of drug dealing and illegal gambling in the 800 block of Ampersee, opened up an investigation into the claims. During the investigation Officers identified a residence in the 800 block of Ampersee. On January 4, 2012 Officers from the Kalamazoo Valley Enforcement Team and Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety’s Swat Team, executed a search warrant at the residence. During the raid, 13 subjects were found inside the residence participating in illegal gambling. A quantity of pre-packaged marijuana, crack cocaine, electronic scales, packaging equipment, gambling equipment, and illegal proceeds were seized.

During the course of the investigation Officers identified a second, related, location in the 1300 block of Krom Street where they also executed a search warrant. During this search two handguns, one that was found to be stolen, additional marijuana, packaging materials, electronic scales, and U.S. Currency, believed to be the proceeds of illegal drug sales, were located.
