KALAMAZOO, Mich.—  A 42-year-old man is in police custody after a knife attack that sent another man to the hospital.

Just before 8:30 p.m. Thursday, public safety officers were called to the 100 block of Reed Street, where they found a 61-year-old man with a stab wound to his neck.  A witness told officers the suspect got away in a white smaller SUV style vehicle.

The victim was taken to a nearby hospital where he’s listed in stable condition.  While officers were at the hospital with the victim, the 42-year-old suspect showed up with non-life threatening injuries. Police arrested the man after he was treated.  He’s in the Kalamazoo County Jail awaiting arraignment on a charge of assault with intent to murder.

Detectives are trying to determine what led up to the attack.  Anyone with information in this case is asked to call Kalamazoo Public Safety at (269) 337-8994 or Silent Observer at (269) 343-2100.
