News Release:

The Taste of Portage celebrates the history, unique restaurants, brew pubs, and traditions that make the City of Portage an amazing place to live, work, and enjoy. Taste of Portage encourages the citizens and community to love where they live. In addition to all the local food and entertainment at the event, we are pleased to announce our headlining bands, Big Al’s Basement Band and The Spazmatics. This fundraising event supports the Portage Athletic Foundation and takes place July 18, 2015 from noon to 10 pm at Overlander Band Shell. Entry to the event is free from noon until 4 pm. From 4 pm to 7 pm, a $5 cover fee will be charged. From 7 pm to 10 pm, a $10 cover fee will be charged upon entry to the event.

We want to update and change our logo this year so we have decided to open it up to the City of Portage through a logo and t-shirt design contest. This contest will allow the community of Portage to get involved in the process of creating this amazing event. We expect the designs to express the Taste of Portage in a fun and creative way. Participants will be able to submit designs for the logo, the t-shirt, or both. The winning logo will be placed on all event materials including posters and the event website. The winning t-shirt design will be printed on all event t-shirts. Karen Bergman, co-president of the Portage Athletic Foundation, explains, “what we are trying to do is create a buzz to get the community of Portage excited for the Taste of Portage. We are hoping that this logo and t-shirt design contest will encourage community members to get involved and help spread the love for the city they live in.”

We will be offering prizes to the winners and runner-ups of the contest. The winners will receive a cash prize of $100, 5 tickets to the event, a t-shirt, and we will use the logo or t-shirt design on our event publications. The runner-ups will receive a cash prize of $50, 5 tickets to the event, and a t-shirt. All logo and t-shirt designs must be submitted by May 31, 2015. Once all the designs are submitted, a committee will pick the top five logo and t-shirt designs that meet the criteria. The City of Portage will be able to go to our website, tasteofportage.com, June 1-7, 2015 to vote on the logo and t-shirt design they like best. The winning designs will be used as the event logo and t-shirt designs.
