Kalamazoo, Mich. - The Rotary Club of Kalamazoo will hold an event to bring awareness to the dangers faced by foster children 'aging out' of the system.

'Fostering Hope' is the name of the program. The Rotary Club will hold its presentation Monday, November 25 at the Radisson Plaza Hotel at Kalamazoo Center. The program begins at noon.

In Kalamazoo County, more than 790 children are in Foster Care. There are more than 200 licensed homes in Kalamazoo between Bethany Christian Service, Lutheran Social Services, Starr, Family and Children Services and DHS.

Organizers of the program say young people who 'age out' of foster care are at greater risk of homelessness, unemployment, illness, early parenthood and physical and sexual abuse. The keynote speaker will talk about opportunities to help those children.

If you are interested in attending the event, contact Jeannie Branden at Trillium Staffing at (269) 345-4500 or jbrandenberger@trilliumstaffing.com.  The luncheon costs $13 and begins at noon. If you would like to just see the program, you are asked to arrive at 12:30.
