Kalamazoo County Sheriff recruits volunteers for Reserve Division

KALMAZOO, Mich.—The Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office is recruiting volunteers to serve in its Reserve Division.

The new academy will start in January 2014.  Training is sponsored by the sheriff’s office.  Recruitment is open to all county residents who are 21 years or older and pass background and drug checks.

The Reserve Division includes a diverse group of volunteers, from doctors to factory workers.  Participants have the opportunity to work in the county jail, help security for local events and the Kalamazoo County Fair, take part in the Honor Guard and Rapid Response Team and ride on road patrol with deputies.

The academy is volunteer-based, so applicants should not expect pay.  To apply, visit the sheriff’s office at 1500 Lamont St. in Kalamazoo or visit www.KCSDRD.org.
