The community is in for a real treat, this week!

The Kalamazoo County Fair is in full swing and continues through Saturday, August 12. With Kids Day every day, there are FREE Kids Expo activities and entertainment from 9:00am to 9:00pm.

Families won’t want to miss the opportunity to experience educational displays, 4-H exhibits and local farms offering displays of over 400 farm animals. Treat the family with exciting Carnival rides, food & fun!

Saturday, August 12 is a great opportunity to help raise funds and awareness for neglected, lost and homeless pets through the Allegan Animal Shelter.

Register soon for some great morning 4 legged friend exercise with Free - afternoon fun at the Pet Expo. The community is encouraged from 9:00am to noon to participate in this fun 1 mile walk. Bring your family and pets to Jaycee Park, Dog Park located at 200 Monroe St. in Allegan, Michigan to benefit 2 or 4 legged pets!

The Wishbone tent will offer door prizes, raffle prizes & more plus vendor booths loaded with animal & people treats, along with crafts and fun activities at the Pet Expo.

Cost is $25, for the 1 mile Dog Walk which includes a goody bag with a t-shirt & giveaways. Keep in mind that a shorter walk can accommodate senior dogs & little dogs.

Humane Society of West Michigan Launches “Always Ask” Campaign

As more people take their dogs outside to enjoy the summer weather, Humane Society of West Michigan (HSWM) is launching its “Always Ask” campaign, sharing safety advice for interacting with dogs. More warm and sunny days means more dogs on the streets, and HSWM believes it’s important that the community knows how to approach dogs to protect themselves and the animals.

“The goal of this campaign is to make a habit of respecting the animal’s needs over our own,” said Trudy Jeffers, Executive Director at HSWM. “Animals, especially dogs, have boundaries just like humans and simply need their space. They will let you know if they don’t want to interact by giving basic cues.”

The 31st Annual Super Chevy Show began in Memphis on April 7 and continues through eight cities until the final event in Tucson, Arizona on October 13-14.

The third stop of the series is scheduled for Friday, June 2 and Saturday, June 3 at US 131 Motorsports Park located at 1249 12th Street in Martin, Michigan. This stop will feature a professional judged car show, drag racing with multiple classes & purses, an automotive swap meet and more.

Visitors can enter the spectator gates at 4pm on Friday and Saturday at 9am.

Adult admission is Friday - $12 and Saturday - $15, Children (6-12 years) - $5, 5 years & under are free.

Kalamazoo Circus Maximus Toy Show Returns

The community is invited to the largest Antique Spring Toy & Collectible Show that always occurs on the 3rd Friday and Saturday in May.

This is the chance to relive your past with the opportunity to find your favorite childhood toys. Explore 50,000 square feet of toys from over 200 vendors from around the country at the Kalamazoo County Fairgrounds, located at 2900 Lake Street in Kalamazoo, Michigan 49048.

The public is welcome on Saturday, May 20 from 9:00am-2:00pm. There is General Admission at $7.00 per person.

Early Buyers cost is $30.00 per person that gets you in on Friday, May 19 from 4:00-8:00pm and Saturday, May 20 at 7:00am in the morning.

Elzinga & Volkers Completes $3.2 Million Renovation of Hope Church

Elzinga & Volkers (E&V), a leading provider of construction management services, announced today the firm has completed a $3.2 million renovation of Hope Church located at 77 W 11th St. in Holland. The project included a 10,000-square-foot renovation of the youth area, nursery, gathering area, meeting rooms and administrative offices, and a 3,900-square-foot chapel addition provides an alternate worship area for parishioners.

The project, which began in April 2016, will be revealed to the community on Saturday, April 29 at 2 p.m. The celebration will begin with a dedication and ribbon cutting ceremony and conclude with an open house featuring group tours.
